Marriage - The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim wiki

1. Amulet of Mara

2. An NPC that can be married. Example- Ysolda in Whiterun.

3. Must speak with Maramal at some point about marriage in the Temple of Mara.

Obtaining the Amulet of Mara:

The Amulet of Mara can be purchased, or found. You can buy it from Maramal, who is found in the Bee and Barb of Riften, or the Temple of Mara in Riften. The cost is 200 gold. If you buy the Amulet from him, be sure to also talk about marriage in the Temple, as this is necessary to do at some point.

Locations of the Amulet of Mara vary. They can be found randomly in chests in caves, for example at the beginning of the Bleak Falls Barrow cave.

What the Amulet of Mara does is that it unlocks unique dialogue that will lead to marriage between your character and an NPC.

After you have the Amulet, you need a spouse to woo. The list of NPC's that you can marry are:

Now that you have chosen a mate, you should speak with the character you'd like to marry. But of course, you can't just talk to your future mate and expect them to be immediately interested.

You will most likely need to do a side quest or an entire questline of some sort first before they show interest. For example, there is a side quest for Ysolda where you find her a Mammoth tusk. After completing this side quest and putting on the Amulet of Mara, you should now have a unique dialogue occurence upon speaking to the character.

Once you select to speak with them, they should ask "Is that the Amulet of Mara you're wearing". The conversation continues with you asking "Are you interested in me?" and so on and so forth. Finally, the NPC will want you to arrange the wedding.

NOTE: The dialogue may not be immediately available, I had to wait a little while after wearing the Amulet until I could talk to the NPC and unlock the dialogue. Also, YOU MUST talk to Maramal about marriage BEFORE you unlock the unique dialogue.

To arrange your marriage, you must go speak with Maramal. Again, he should be located in the Bee and Barb, or the Temple of Mara, both of which are located in Riften.

Go through the dialogue, and he will say the ceremony will occur the next day.

REMAIN IN THE TEMPLE. Wait for less than 24 hours ( I waited about 16), and people will begin arriving in the Temple. The ceremony will occur the next DAY, not necessarily 24 hours. The ceremony ensues, etc. Congratulations, you're married! *Achievement unlocked*

You now have a wife or husband. You can speak with them immediately after the ceremony to decide where you two shall live. They should have a home if you don't have one yourself. If you forget to speak with them immediately after the ceremony, they will return to their original location in Skyrim and you can talk to them there as well.

Your husband or wife can cook a Homemade Meal for you on a DAILY basis. These meals can heal a little health and stamina. In addition, your spouse can be used as a companion and can hold equipment for you if you need to free up some space.

Also, your spouse will open a shop up in your home. Speak to your spouse every once in a while, because you can receive 100 gold per day from your spouse. This gold will accumulate on a daily basis, so you don't have to visit her everyday necessarily.
