Masaru Kato commented on a recent spike in research costs, basically confirming that they have begun working on their next generation console. It'll be interesting to see if Sony officially unveils this at E3, especially since Kaz Hirai, Sony's boss, commented a few months ago on the same topic and said that the PS4 wasn't even in consideration yet.

That's funny, because higher tier publishers, such as EA and Activision, are rumored to have the new Xbox console already.

Im confused, My PS3 broke almost 2 years ago, and I wanted anotehr for my birthday.... Should I even buy one now? if the PS4 is coming out?

Just buy one. The PS4 is not going to come out for quite a while, I'd imagine.

Where 5 years ago pc's couldn't keep up with a console graphically, now consoles can't keep up with pc's. And since developers usually develop multi-platform games the current consoles slow down the improvement of graphics.

My guess is that we'll have phones with the power of the ps3 in the near future, so I think it's a good thing if there's a new console cycle coming.
