So...9 days ago we find out PSN was hacked, 6 days ago Sony shuts down PSN and now we find out that our personal data may have been stolen. WHAT!
They should've warned everyone beforehand that this could happen those 9 days ago.
Or at least admit it that it's not just "maintanance".
They should have, they had to realize it was a possibility. It may have ended up that our personal information was perfectly fine, but better safe than sorry. I guess they don't think that way though...Or maybe they just don't care about their customers.
Have they released any othe statements yet?
The last statement they made on the PS Blog was yesterday, and it basically was just them defending themselves and saying, "We knew there was an intrustion a week ago, but we didn't know your personal information was at risk until yesterday."
Well, first of all. That's still a 24-hour period where you knew for sure that it was at risk and didn't say anything. And second of all, if there was an intrusion, you should have assumed everyone's information was at risk and warned us of the possibility instead of keeping quiet about it for a week.
They also put up an FAQ and most of their answers are, "We cannot comment at this time," so I don't know what the point in that was.
Better to be safe than sorry...and since Sony is basically a multimillionaire company, I don't see how their security is that rubbish to have been hacked and have personal data stolen.
They better offer insurance to anyone that loses money AND!!!!!!!!!!!!! a list of FREE goodies like a few months of PS plus, free games, betas etc. Also a better, safer network and some of those updates they have been promising for a while. Cross-game chat.
Maybe Sony will finally step their game up after this event.
Nothing, I repeat nothing is ever truly secure on a network. PSN was not secure, Xbox Live is not secure, Steam is not secure, Battle.net is not secure. Anyone who is determined enough and has the skill to breach the security of these networks will eventually break it, no matter how much money you throw at it.
Sony didn't shut down PSN, it was hacked, the "server maintance" thing's a coverup.
Sony just said that credit card details were encrypted, but that doesn't mean that PSN owners are in the clear. Read in an article that if the hacker(s) were able to get a hold on an administrative account, they could basically read the encrypted files anyway.
Just to make sure, the sign up for PSN doesn't require a CC#, right?
Nope, sign up for PSN doesn't require a CC. Too bad I used my credit card to buy games on the PS Store :/
I think it is.. my gosh i don't even know what to say. I have been playing Mortal Kombat and i want to play online. It is so frustating to never be online.
From sony perspective i think they are terrified. Everyone hates on them because of something that wasn't their fault. I feel sorry for them and i hope that every hacker out there will burn down there with Lucifer.
Let's make a bet, when will PSN be back online?
My guess is Wednesday
It's their fault they don't have better security. They SHOULD have better, thinking of that they have 77 MILLON users to "protect".
whoa psn STILL down all this weekend - glad I veered toward 360 :/
does seem weird that a giant like SONY have been caught with their
pants down - let's not be smug tho - could it happen XBL? I'm guessing
COULD. Yes. But they haven't done anything to deserve it yet.
