Was there ever a game that you had been really looking forward to and once it came it turned out to be a huge disappointment? For me, although old, Grand Theft Auto 4 was a huge disappointment. I recently played it again and it just brought back how upset I was with this game compared to the previous ones in the series, it just seems like they took a lot away.

Halo 3, ever since that game I rent them before I buy unless it's by Blizzard or Bethesda.

Modern Warfare 2

The trailers and other footage for the game made it look absolutely mind-blowing. However, after a few months, the multiplayer became infuriating and basically unplayable to me.

This may be the players' fault more so than the game itself, but it was still a disappointment to me.

Yeah, I kind of agree. The multiplayer lost it's appeal pretty fast

@Captain_Morgan: Players fault that Activision made a shitty game just to make money?

Fine, the singleplayer is okay, but very short. The Spec Ops thing might be fun a few times, but it don't last long.

The multiplayer, the thing that keeps Call of Duty games alive and active, was useless. The worst part is that it also affects other games. They are made to sell, so they make them with CoD elements for that to happen. For kids to love it. Fuck fans, they want money.

The game itself certainly had many problems. The multiplayer was hastily made and had many exploits; exploits that the community took advantage of.

Looking back now, I suppose my disappointment stemmed from both sides. Infinity Ward for making an extremely exploitable game, and the players for taking advantage of those exploits and ruining the entire multiplayer experience.

I would say that it would be Crisis 2 it was not as good as the first one because the dumbed it down for consoles.

The squad thing was fairly unique but since the heroes just started to be reskinned starting heroes the Goal of unlocking new once just to try out their skills didn't really strike me as something i wanted to waste my time on.

And for the Looting and the customising part of the game, i always got Torchlight or Diablo 2 to fall back on

For me it was Starcraft 2. Before I get blasted to kingdom come from all the haters, let me explain. I looked online and everyone I got into contact with said this game was awesome. My friend recently got it so I played it at his house. Personally, I thought it was boring as hell. I used my unbeatable strategy for all the RTS games I play. Which was to build a massive army and demolish everything in the way. It worked every time. I don't get why people came all over this game. It was just another boring RTS like all of them I ever played.

@live2rock

What difficulty did you play it on? The AI won't just let you build a massive unbeatable army on anything higher than normal. It's certainly not a strategy that's viable in multiplayer either.

@live play the multiplayer, if you don't rage out of your mind (which is fun to watch) you'll realize you have to be incredibly lucky to be able to build a 200/200 army without any interference to be able to demolish everything in the way.

Because, before the craze of WoW, before the craze of 3D graphics, before eSports even existed, Starcraft Brood War was there before it. Brood War is the game basically that got eSports going, with the help of Boxer. Brood War is the best, most balanced RTS to have ever been released, and people still play it today instead of SC2 or anything else.

If you were around (or played) Brood War when it was at its prime, you'd see why waiting 12 long LONG years (over a decade of our lives!) was such a big deal. Besides, SC2 is better than any other new RTS that's come out today.

I was just giving my honest opinion about what I thought seemed justified to fit this forum topic. I didn't know that I couldn't give my opinion about a popular game without people going "OMG RLY WATS WRONG WIT DIS GUY?"

@live2rock13 It didn't seem like MarioDragon was trying to be combative or anything. I think he was just trying to understand your point of view from what you've told him, and explain why he himself, along with a bunch of others, enjoys SC2.

And you're not really that unusual for not enjoying it. Starcraft is such an old-school style game that's so demanding, that I'm sure it's something a lot of people don't want to play.

As for me, it's been mostly arcade games that I've become disenchanted with. Outland, ilomilo,  From Dust, there's just a few. I like a good deal of arcade games, but there are some ones that are too well reviewed for my liking.

RPGeesus hit the nail on the head, and I hardly ever say that for unexplainable reasons...

The only game I can't imagine people NOT liking is Superstar Saga, but that's just me. Well here I leave in an attempt to keep this thread on its rail.

As for another disappointing game (I just realized), Mario & Luigi Partners in Time.

Awesome_King...I would say you are correct sir.

Unless Activision were to address a few issues...I don't know, say 10 issues or so. Then maybe it won't be disappointing.

Alpha Protocol.

A friend told me it reminded him of Deus Ex.

But as it turned out the game was quite unfair.

Although you could sneak through whole Missions (after all you can skill your Charakter to be some kind of Sam Fisher), but in the end you'd have to fight a Boss in a firefight. No sneaking up and stabbing his back, no "just running away " like in Deus Ex, no special tactics to beat the Boss....just shooting.

But since you only packed a Silenced Pistol and some random weapon you picked up after taking down your first enemy you obviously had a hard time.

And since I don't put Points in Assaultrifles when I'm always sneaking around I had a pretty frustrating time. I enjoyed the game for the times when I could sneak and I fucking hated it when I had to fight Bosses.

And since the game ends with you having to fight a million different Bosses in a row.........
