What is the hardest game you have ever played? Any console.
For me, this is I Wanna Be The Guy. You may only need to use about 4 buttons, but I don't think I've gotten past level 4, or 5 even. I just ragequit.
Call of Duty WaW. The infinitely spawning enemies and the grenade fest just ruined the game for me.
You can make a case for what kind of difficulty.
A difficult game because it was intended I'll go with Demon's Souls, very high learning curve but it's very worth it when you finally got a hang of the game (though grinding souls helped too).
For games that are difficult because of design flaws I could go with World at War (COD) since it's design made it that much harder then it should've been.
Demon's Souls was annoying, sure it was amazing and fun but spending 40 minutes to get to a boss only to die during that boss is just ridiculous.
Hardest game I've ever played was Kid Icarus for the NES.
Super Meat Boy is pretty hard. So is N and N+. But those are designed to be difficult.
Hardest thing I've ever played on a purely frustrating level was Crash Bandicoot 1 when I was about 7, because I was terrible at video games back then.
Most Games I've played arem't especially hard in general, but many games have some frustrating Missions.
Empire Earth New Russia Mission 2 comes to mind.
Black Ops Veteran..the Part where you had to run down the Hill to kick over Napalmbarrels.
Gothic 2 Night of the Raven....your very first Opponent might very well rape you. Later on it get's easier but the beginning is pretty fuckin frustrating.
Demon's Souls is difficult the first time you play just because you have no idea what to expect. But you kind of learn along the way different ways to exploit weaknesses. And once you get your Dexterity up enough that you can properly use a bow, the game becomes a joke. :)
the hardest game i have ever played was CSS (Counter Strike Source) because I am bad at it
For me it would be playing through RE4 only use the starting handgun with no upgrades.
Not a hard game but hard stipulations.
I should maybe add Alpha Protocol.
I played as a stealthchar who killed his enemies by sneaking up to them...but the game forces you to fight Bosses.....and they don't take damage from Pistols so you're fucked if you didn't pick a an AR or Pumpgun.
So that's very frustrating.
Combat Cars on the Sega Genesis.
I am quite good at Racing games, but I have only made it past the second race a handful of times...Man, I hate that game...
Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 1. This game is about knowing every enemy spawn and pre-aiming as they come. Every mistake will be punished by death.
I still haven't finished it.
MGS2 Extreme Difficulty. You MUST know enemy movement patterns three or four moves ahead cause unnecessary combat WILL screw you over.
ok I think this doesn't count since it is a flash game, but it is extremely difficult, QWOP. I've never beaten it and most likely only 5 people out of the million who have played it have beaten it.
I see your point.
QWOP is just frustrating.
Ninja Gaiden is not made for people that tend to rage too much. That game is such Bullshit. And I agree on WaW, even on normal, grenade spam in that game is just retarded.
QWOP is death.
Anyway, I'm currently doing a Nuzlocke run of SoulSilver,
and a blaster-only run of KoTOR 2.
Pacman. Damn ghost...
@40ozbounce Nuzlocke: is that where when a pokemon faints you have to release it?
That's pretty hard.
Yeah, it's basically Pokemon: hardcore mode. Basic ules go something like -
You can only catch the first pokemon you encounter on a route, except if you already have caught one of the same species or you have an evolution. Event pokemon like legendaries don't count given their rarity. If you accidentally kill the pokemon, tough shit, you can't catch any others on that route.
If a pokemon dies during battle, you cannot revive it and you must place it in your PC at the next pokemon centre and release it. If all of your pokemon faint and you have no back ups in your PC, you must start a new save file (this rule varies between communities, since some disallow back up teams)
You must give each of your pokemon a nickname to ensure that you bond between them.
I almost forgot, there's an Uber Challenge for Ocarina of Time that looks extremely difficult. The guy that made it actually has videos of it being completely finished on YouTube, so it is possible (look up Cheesoman on YouTube, he did one of the fastest speedruns for Ocarina for Speed Demo's Archive).
You literally have to use the bare minimum, no extra heart's, no sword (you have to get some knife and break it), can only use shields when 100% necessary, no arrow/rupee upgrades, and some other things. The sad part is it requires doing glitches, I was going to attempt this on the 3DS eventually but who knows if the glitches get fixed or not.
I have plyed this really such a nice game
Dead Space 2 on Hardcore.
(MarioDragon) I am doing that when school is out
Legend of zelda ocarina of time; The water temple. I hate water temple in zelda games anyway but this one just really annoys me and i messed it up big time
COD 4 mile high club, about had a seizure out of excitement when I beat it.
Call Of Duty 2 on veteran was very ridiculous, but also Call Of Duty World At War was also very challenging, especially Heart of the Reich.
You guys haven't seen difficulty until you talk about Rogue-likes. When you die, you START OVER from the beginning. At least Demon's Souls lets you regain your souls. When you die, you re-roll a new character.
To make matters worse, your DEAD past character becomes a zombie and tries to kill your CURRENT character, so making him too strong isn't good either!
ninja gaiden 2 the whole freaking game was super hard for me. it took way to long to level up your weapons to a decent amount where you could dish out enough killing power to survive a battle only to have no health to fight the next.
Yep I agree with haloFAN, NG2 is definitely the hardest thing I've played. I couldn't even get past the first fight in the game on the second hardest difficulty.
COD WaW on Veteran - It was so frustrating that I wasnt even happy when I beat it.
Mass Effect 2 on Insanity - My first run was hair pulling infuriating, but I've since beat it on insanity 3 more times.
TMNT - never got past that stupid seaweed bomb level
Battletoads - fuck that game
Super Ghost and Ghouls - ditto
Any Arcade Game - cuz they were designed to take your money
I agree with Whiplash, World at War on veteran was a pain. Infinitely spawning enemies made a few of the missions in Black Ops pretty insane too
Maybe it isn't as hard of a game but when I played it, the frustration kept growing every chapter...
I'm talking about Uncharted: Drake's Fortune on Crushing Difficulty. It's not the hardest game I've played but it sure had some of the most frustrating levels in next-gen gaming...
PS: Does everyone remember the "Blue Room"?
Ninja Gaiden 2 Hard Difficulty, man was that a S.O.B
Games now are usually not that hard even on the hardest difficulty because most have new game + but there have been a few challenging ones ive played like:
Seems like it would be Call Of Duty: Classic (or COD1) on Veteran. It feels sort of strange saying that because it wasn't released very long ago (on xbox) but i got stuck on level after level, and i think it's longer than all the other COD games (PC players have it easy because they can save at any time). It felt great to get the full 200 GamerScore.
If it wasn't for the "push reset" type play of the levels i would say Mirrors Edge (going for 100%)
Call Of Duty 3 was also very hard just because it was stupid (yes i beat it)
Id have to say the Fish temple for the Zoras Saphire to unlock the master sword in Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, I was first trying it when i was like 6 but no matter when i tried it i just could never beat it...
I have a new game on my top 10 list.
The Bourne Conspiracy.
I've tried to beat the boss (Solomon) on the boat, for about 20 minutes. Prob. 14 attempts. I thing drugs are required to have the response time the battle needs. I see an "X". But it takes me about 2 seconds to figure out where that button is. Normally I'm pretty quick, but that's cause I know where the button with the function is, but in the game it's fucking random what button to press! DAMNIT!!
FUCK! Shut down Xbox 360. The even more fucked part, is that I must do the level AGAIN next boot. AAAARGGGGHHHH!
The Bullshit parts in games where you just have to get lucky... like in Black Ops that ending driving scene...
i Wanna be the Guy! for pc......So Cheap in so many ways but still having completed it......Kinda made it worth it.
Once you played that game anything just seems soo much easier than it used to be. Only other game that might have gotten me that close to a complete Rageattack would be Super Meat boy....on pc with a broken jump button in Cotton valley in the shadow world <.<
Gotta be Demon souls for me. Although i finished it the game was very difficult and extremely frustrating at times.
no games have given me any particular trouble so far to be honest...(propably cause i do my research before i buy a game)...but if i had to say which one i think is the hardest game i've played it would have to be demon's souls...although i didn't die all that much i found myself being extra careful when exploring new areas and getting overobsessed with always having full health...so yeah definately demon's souls
COD: WaW. that game was frustrating as hell. you die in a single shot, the enemy AI just spam grenades constantly and there are only about 3 check points per level. couldn't beat it on veteran.
