For those of you who have played Battlefield 2 or even the Bad Company series, EA has a closed beta for Battlefield Play4Free, which is an arcade-style mash-up of Battlefield 2 environments and vehicles, Battlefield Heroes rank progression, and Bad Company aiming, damage system and weaponry. It's currently in closed beta. Somewhat unstable at the moment, but more than playable if your computer can play current-gen games. Quick Stats - Graphics 5/10, sub-par, but not horribly so. Reminds me of Counter-Strike-level quality. Does not detract from feel of game. Gameplay 9/10, game feels like Bad Company 2 and the maps are very nostalgic of Battlefield 2. Progression is easy, and each class is sufficiently intriguing to play. Storyline - None. Class system is - you can pick one (two if you're in beta) class and spec it up from Level 1 to 20, choosing your progression. You need to spend 1 point to unlock flying aircraft and 1 point to unlock piloting helicopters. Ground vehicles are free to use, but you need to spend points to use special weapons for your tank and APCs. Game is VERY BALANCED considering the use of vehicles. Aircraft are susceptible to being 2-shot by AA easily, and ground vehicles are easily taken out by rockets and frags if you're not careful. Link: http://battlefield.play4free.com/en/home

I'm currently playing BC2 but as soon as Bfp4f comes out I'll check it out and maybe even switch.

It's now open beta. That being said, I'm a monster tank driver.

I like that the maps are like BF2's, exept some changes. But the gameplay feels... weird. Probably better once/if I buy new weapons. It might be a little negative that you can buy weapons for game-money, but atleast it's free and gives many people a chance to play Battlefield. Battlefield 2 won't work for me on Windows 7, so it's great (even tho Bad Company 2 is more fun).

You don't need to buy any of the weapons with real money, or even in-game money.  Just spec and get awesome at vehicles.

The only rant the game has from me is that it's like Battlefield Heroes and you're forced to select a class and stick with it.  I like how the maps resemble Battlefield 2 maps yet it's able to be its own game.  I've only played it for two or so days, and I must say I am very impressed.

Meh, I've got 3 classes.  They're all rounded pretty much, just a few differences.  Recon is the weakest ATM.

This is me and my Engineer going 42 naught.
