So I was about to upload a video the other day, and at the top of the upload page it says:

"Congratulations! Your account is now enabled for uploads longer than 15 minutes. Click the Upload button below to select a video."

How did this happen?

And is it rare?

Or does it happen to everybody??

I don't think anybody really knows how it happens, besides YouTube of course.

It's not rare. If you don't have marks (or if your marks are expired) on your YouTube and you don't have any Copyright ID claims, then you'll get the unlimited time (as far as I know it's unlimited). I could get it on my main channel I think but I'd have to dispute like 50 videos and it takes 3 friggin months for a dispute...

But it'll stay there as long as you don't upload something that blatantly isn't yours, and as long as you don't get any Copyright ID claims.

I just got it as well. Funny thing is that I only have 10 videos uploaded.

When I made my 2nd game related youtube account I just had to enter my mobile number to upload longer then 15 minutes, is that for new accounts only?

Okay so apparently this is all you need to do now:
