There are a lot of things that John has said in this walkthrough that have really pissed me off. For example, I hate how he keeps on complaining that the ending was bad which is driving me insane because there are games with worse endings. Games that I think had worse endings include The Witcher 2, Red Dead Redemption, L.A. Noire, Dragon Age 2, Fallout 3, and Fallout: New Vegas. Even though I hated the endings for these games, I think that these games are either good or great because everything else about the game was good. Based on some John's commentary throughout this guide, I think that he is only focusing on how bad the ending is and not how amazing the rest of the game is. Also as a side note, Garrus is an awesome character and one of the best squadmates in the series.
ME3 was a lackluster, clearly rushed game when compared to its predecessors. It offers only paltry, tokenistic inclusion of important characters, almost no real sidequests, no real story divergence based on your choices, and an incredibly dumbed-down dialogue system.
If you'll recall, nowhere throughout the entire game was there a middle dialogue option. You are only given the choice of either meek apologist or raging cunt, with no middle ground whatsoever.
Ten years from now, what will be remembered, in my view, will be (1) the attention paid to crafting a detailed and intriguing backstory of inter-species politics, (2) the technical accomplishment of creating a series in which a single character can be carried throug all three games, creating a nearly seamless singleplayer experience, and (3) how the ending took all of the series' innumerable past accomplishments and shat all over them.
ME3 is not as good as ME2, but the game is still awesome because its gameplay is great, it allowed you to customize your weapons, and there were moments throughout the entire game that were just awesome. Some of the great moments include shooting with Garrus on the Citadel, curing the Genophage, resolving the issues between the Geth and Quarians, the dialogue on the Normandy, and any moment with Javik. I did not care that they got rid of the middle dialogue option because I only choose the middle option to accept quests as a renegade character. It was kind of a good thing they got rid of the middle option because now whenever I skip through dialogue, I do not accidently choose the middle option.
It's kind of upsetting how many people are saying how horrible the ending is when they don't even really understand what happened. Please go watch the youtube video by ACAVYOS called Mass Effect3 - Shepherd's Indoctrination (NEW). You'll see how amazing the ending actually is.
Well at some point I guess I have to post my first comment, especially since I primarily watch your walkthroughs when I'm playing by myself and get bored easily, so I enjoy the listening to the dialogue, especially since it usually relates to what's going on in-game for me at the time.
With that said, I think the most memorable moment for most Mass Effect players 10 years from now, or at least myself, will be the first encounter with Sovereign. That conversation essentially, in terms of it's awesomeness, boils down to:
"Your extinction is inevitable. We, are the end of everything. You exist because we allow it, and you will end because we demand it. We are legion, the time of our return is coming. Our numbers will darken the sky of every world. You cannot escape, you are doomed. I am the vanguard of your destruction."
A lot of my friends had insisted I play Mass Effect, so eventually I did. That conversation with Sovereign though is when I truly got hooked on the game. Just the epic/grandeur of the Reapers.
Also, forgot to say thanks for the walkthroughs lol. I'm not really the type to post comments on forums/videos but at the same time since I've listened to quite a few of your guides your voices/personalities (which are fairly similar to a number of friends that I have) have become familiar to me, so I hope you guys stick around for a while.
