Skills - Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning wiki

Your Skills represent general areas of expertise, master over a variety of different activities which can aid you in your quest.

Skills can enable you to pick locks, dispel magical wards, craft armor and weapons, concoct potions, discover hidden treasures, sneak undetected among your enemies, and persuade others to do your will.

Alchemy

Alchemy grants you the ability to harvest mystical reagents from the land and combine them to create powerful arcane potions.

Every level: Increases chance to successfully harvest reagents.

Level 1: A failed experiment now results in an Unstable Potion
Level 3: You can craft potions with three reagents.
Level 5: You can craft potions with four reagents.
Level 7: You can craft potions using the Essence of Fate as a reagent
Level 10: All alchemical recipes are discovered.

Blacksmithing

Blacksmithing allows you to repair your arms and armor as they become worn or damaged, as well as forge entirely new equipment.

Every level: Increases the effectiveness of Repair kits.

Level 1: You can harvest components from some enemies in the world.
Level 2: You can use three components when crafting equipment.
Level 3: You can salvage infrequent equipment.
Level 4: You can use four components when crafting equipment.
Level 6: You can salvage rare equipment.
Level 7: You can use gems as components when crafting equipment.
Level 10: You can create mastercrafted equipment.

Detect Hidden

Detect Hidden enables you to find hidden treasure caches, deadly traps, enemy ambushes, and secret doors.

Every level: Increases the amount of gold found as you explore the world.

Level 1: Enemies and other characters are displayed on the mini-map.
Level 2: Hidden tresures are displayed on the mini-map, and are revealed if you go near them.
Level 3: Enemies' facing is displayed on the mini-map.
Level 4: You can disarm traps.
Level 5: Secret doors are displayed on the mini-map, and are revealed if you go near them.
Level 7: Traps are displayed on the mini-map.
Level 8: Traps can be disarmed and salvaged for components.
Level 10: Lorestones and treasures are displayed on the mini-map.

Dispelling

Dispelling grants you the ability to dispel protective magical wards without suffering harm.

Every level: Decreases difficulty when dispelling magical wards.

Level 2: You can fail to dispel a ward once before it will explode.
Level 4: Dark sigils are removed from wards.
Level 7: You can fail to dispel a ward twice before it will explode.
Level 10: Ward glyphs regenerate much more slowly.

Lockpicking

Lockpicking grants mastery over the picking of mechanical locks, enabling you to bypass even the tightest security.

Every level: Decreases difficulty when lockpicking.

Level 4: You always succeed when forcing very easy locks.
Level 7: You always succeed when forcing easy locks.
Level 8: You always succeed when forcing average locks.
Level 10: You always succeed when forcing hard locks.

Mercantile

With Mercantile, you master the art of selling for more and buying for less.

Every level: Improves buy and sell gold costs at merchants.

Level 3: You recover 15% of an item's gold value when you destroy it.
Level 6: You recover 30% of an item's gold value when you destroy it.
Level 10: You can now sell stolen items at any merchant.

Persuasion

Persuasion allows you to talk your way into and out of situations that would normally require a different solution.

Every level: Increases your chance to persuade others to your way of thinking.

Level 1: Bribe costs for crime are decreased by 20%.
Level 3: Bribe costs for crime are decreased by 30%.
Level 6: Bribe costs for crime are decreased by 40%.
Level 10: Bribe costs for crime are decreased by 30%.

Sagecraft

Sagecraft allows you to create powerful gems and fuse them into socketed equipment.

Every level: Better quality shards drop more frequently.

Level 2: You can create powerful gems using lambent quality shards.
Level 3: You can strengthen shards by combining two of the same quality to get one of the next highest quality.
Level 6: You can create more powerful gems using pristine quality shards.
Level 8: You can craft epic gems.
Level 10: You can remove gems from any socket at a Sagecraft Altar.

Stealth

Stealth allows you to sneak around undetected, granting combat bonuses when you attack unseen.

Every level: Increases the duration of time you can remain hidden before others will notice you.

Level 1: -5% Sight range on unaware NPCs while in stealth.
Level 4: -10% Sight range on unaware NPCs while in stealth.
Level 6: -15% Sight range on unaware NPCs while in stealth.
Level 8: -20% Sight range on unaware NPCs while in stealth.
Level 9: -30% Sight range on unaware NPCs while in stealth.
Level 10: -40% Sight range on unaware NPCs while in stealth.
