http://www.engadget.com/2012/04/26/nintendo-annual-financials-2011/

•Is this a sign that the consoles need to be revised faster, generate some interest?

•Is motion gaming also enough of a cushion to tie companies over until the next-gen?

•Is Nintendo finally paying the price for the horrendous lack of innovation and will they suffer from the awkward timing of the Wii U release?

•Are console gamers the new hardcore few, just as PC gamers were in the original schism?

•Are you interested by the prospect of cross platform games: console, PC, phone? Will we see apps freely flowing across the various platforms? Is any delay worth it?

Contract Consoles

http://www.forbes.com/sites/erikkain/2012/05/07/99-xbox-360-confirmed-is-this-the-future-of-console-gaming/

•Is this a new and potentially successful business model? Almost cell-phone carrier-esque stipulations and arrangements, or will that be why it fails so hard?

•Does the hardcore gaming audience even care?

•Does that seriously mean that we could have the 360 for two more years, or is MSFT going to screw people over that buy this, if the Xbox v. Next comes out in the middle?

•Or, again, are they the audience that uses it more for the software and services, which can always be updated?

•Can this trend continue? Will Sony and Nintendo adopt it? Could you be able to buy a TV subsidized or get a free Roku if you sign a 2 year contract of Netflix or Hulu Plus?

Console Carryover

•What kind of games do we want carried over from this gen?

•Does the release cycle and amount of releases make it a non-issue?

•Would they just sell it to you again from Games on Demand?

•What about peripherals and accessories?

•But then what is the new lifecycle of the next generation? Even longer, to allow you to buy back up all of the accessories again?

•Are we seeing the same ad creep that infected Hulu now start to trickle onto the console?

•How is this fragmentation in content and location goin to affect the platforms?

•Who is going to be held accountable or blamed in the end; Microsoft & Sony, the telcos, or the services?

@Scumbagb3n Thanks for the comment, we'll work on streamlining and consolidating the show notes, and for the next episode we're concentrating on reducing topics and increasing focus, more like the Halo 4 analysis from ep. 1. @RGAE QIUT Thanks for your support, Alex almost brought up that study on the cast, didn't want to talk over me though

I hope its as good as the first one just downloading ep 2 know it know if you ever do a feedback section on the podcast and i hope you talk about the new assassians creed III trailer

@RareDaniel46 Thanks for the comment, we responded to some comments on the last cast at the beginning of this one and we hope to get the community even more involved in the future. As far as AC3 is concerned, we will think about  talking about it while writing the next Com-cast's script

Very good show guys allways good to lisitn to and very better quailty since the last podcast!

RAM's picture

@dalton32389 Go ahead and try to download it again. We had some issues where we actually went over our bandwidth limit, but we just added a lot more so we shouldn't see that problem again hopefully. Enjoy

@RareDaniel46 Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed it. We did a lot of work and testing with our mic setups to try and improve it from Com-cast 1 to Com-cast 2 so I'm glad to hear that you think it payed off.

Is anyone getting linked to skydrive?

swu's picture

Sorry about that, Skydrive link expired... and I didn't expect that to happen. I've sent a fixed link to our new service to Dan, and it'll be fixed as soon as he updates the post.

Another great podcast guys, love the topic based discussions, but i would like to see what each of you may have played in the past week (Diablo 3). Its just something i thought would be cool, if you gave opinions on the games that came out in the past week, if you played them and a little review of them. Obviously this isn't that type of podcast, and even without it you guys are great to listen to.

I really liked Ep. 1. I was genuinely pleased with how much you covered in the different segments, especially in the Halo 4 part.

In order to keep the companies from screwing each other to such great extents in online streaming services, the organization responsible for keeping an even competition between companies, whichever that is, is going to have to extend its regulatory capabilities over digital media and services.

That's a problem I believe we haven't worked on enough: the law is not that in depth regarding digital media, we just keep putting band-aids over a gaping wound, it's due to the inattention on this matter why SOPA or PIPA were even considered as rational propositions in the first place.

We urgently need for the government to make an intricate definition of the law with regards to the internet, it has to do it in a way that the freedom of the internet is both respected and protected, and that outright illegal acts--such as distribution of child pornography, identity theft, and illicit moves in corporate competition--can be rightly punished within the US's capabilities.

Note: I can't sincerely include piracy as an outright illegal act. It's a grey area, at most, since it's a righteous consequence of media overpricing.
