iWINuFail's Game of the Year Series (Part 2)

Hello again everyone. I hope you all enjoyed my previous entry in the series, today we will do the second (of three) parts. The awards today fall into two categories; Game Awards and Console Awards. So without further to do, lets go.

GAME AWARDS

Best Shooter

Nominees:

Halo: Reach

Call of Duty: Black Ops

Battlefield Bad Company 2

Bioshock 2

Vanquish

And the winner is...

Halo Reach. The last Halo game is also the best. Bungie put it's best foot forward and it shows.

Best RPG

Nominees:

Fable 3

Final Fantasy 13

Mass Effect 2

Fallout New Vegas

(I only played these four)

And the winner is...

Mass Effect 2 Bioware's space-opera epic was a wonderful combination of fantastic storytelling, exciting gameplay, and powerful characters.

Best Action Game

Nominees:

God of War 3

Super Mario Galaxy 2

Alan Wake

Red Dead Redemption

Dead Rising 2

And the winner is...

Red Dead Redemption Rockstar outdid themselves yet again in the best Western-themed game ever made.

Best Strategy Game

Nominees:

R.U.S.E.

Starcraft 2

Civilization V

Napoleon Total War

And the winner is...

Starcraft 2 Shocker

Best Sports Game

Nominees:

Madden NFL 11

UFC Undisputed 2010

NHL 11

FIFA 2011

NCAA Football 2011

And the winner is...

FIFA 2011 By far the best soccer game to date.

Best Sequel

Nominees:

Halo Reach

Super Mario Galaxy 2

God of War 3

Mass Effect 2

Fallout New Vegas

And the winner is...

Mass Effect 2 I realize I'm starting to award ME2 for every category it's nominated, but hear me out. This category is won for a combination of outstanding gameplay (which all five had) and significant improvement from the previous game. Of all the games listed, ME2 was by far the most different game (and better because of it) up there, though you could probably make a case for New Vegas.

Best New IP

Alan Wake

Heavy Rain

Vanquish

Singularity

And the winner is...

Alan Wake.  Original and exciting, a good one for 360 owners.

Best Multiplayer

Nominees:

Halo Reach

Call of Duty Black Ops

Starcraft 2

Battlefield Bad Company 2

Red Dead Redemption

And the winner is...

Halo Reach. The tried and true formula comes through again. Always reliable and fun, Halo Reach is always a good choice. Starcraft 2 receives an honorable mention, and might have won if not for the poor ladder system.

 

Now for the CONSOLE AWARDS Games can only be nominated if they are exclusive to THAT SYSTEM ONLY, so ME2 is NOT an exclusive.

Xbox 360 Game of the Year

Crackdown 2

And the winner is...

Halo Reach At this point you shouldn't even be surprised.

Playstation 3 Game of the Year

Nominees:

Heavy Rain

God of War 3

MLB 10: The Show

And the winner is...

God of War 3 The final episode (chronologically) of Kratos' epic saga is a masterpiece.

Wii Game of the Year

Metroid: Other M

No More Heroes 2

Red Steel 2

Kirby's Epic Yarn

Super Mario Galaxy 2

And the winner is...

 Super Mario Galaxy 2 OMG OMG OMG no waaayyyy....

PC Game of the Year

Nominees:

And the winner is...

Starcraft 2

Handheld Game of the Year

Nominees:

God of War: Ghost of Sparta

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker

Angry Birds

Cut the Rope

Pokemon Heart Gold

And the winner is...

MGS: Peace Walker If this is the final (real) MGS game, then I'm okay with that.
