Steve Jobs Has Died

Steve Jobs died on October 5th at the age of 56. Steve Jobs is of course, the co-creator of Apple and Pixar and had been battling illness leading up to his death. His family said that he died peacefully, surrounded by family. Apple has responded by replacing's home page with this image, and releasing a statement,

"Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Steve have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor. Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple,"

If you want to send your condolences to Steve Job's family, you can send it to

I have never been one to hide my disdain for Apple as a company, but Steve Jobs was an innovator, one of the most ingenious and inspiring businessmen of the 20th and 21st centuries, and he was a great man. My heart goes out to his family, his friends, and his co-workers.

I share a similar sentiment about Steve's passing, while he is undoubtably a major figurehead in the development of consumer electronics. I do take issue with the shameless exploitation of the consumer base that Apple has done in the past several years. Thus I won't be missing that aspect of him, what I will miss him for is that he founded Pixar, the best animation studio this side of the pacific (Studio Ghibli trumps them imo).
