PSN will be restored on May 3rd.

"Our employees have been working day and night to restore operations as quickly as possible, and we expect to have some services up and running within a week from yesterday. However, we want to be very clear that we will only restore operations when we are confident that the network is secure." Says Patrick Seybold.

SONY is also working with a recognized security firm to find the cause of this intrusion, wherever in the world it may be.

And the people jeering at SONY for this(Xbots) should remember that XBL was down for two weeks in 2008.

Thank you for reading my first news post.

You should be angry with Sony. I own an Xbox 360, PS3, and a Wii. I am hardly an "Xbot"

Sony has not been telling their customers what is wrong with their systems, or more importantly, their credit card security. I am not mad that they got hacked. I am mad that they have such disregard for their consumers (myself included) who are concerned with what is going on with the system that they paid $300 for.

I don't even have an Xbox, so I'm not a fangirl. I love my PS3, but I am still able to recognize the fact that Sony has not handled this situation well.

Where did they say it will be back up on the 3rd?

brodyitis's picture

@Jenne They didn't.

Someone should put a betting pool on this site about when all of the functions of PSN will be back online. The PSN is already a joke, might as well have some fun with it.

I didn't think they did. I've read all the blogs posts and never saw an actual date.

You may want to change the title of your post. It could end up being false. :)

@ Jenne no they did not say the 3rd. And as far as  the post by  GLaDoS 96 calling anyone who thinks Sony mishandled this xbots. There is no need for anyone to have to justify their anger to this obviousl fanboy troll .

You guys are a bunch of idiots overhere at WGG. Heres the link for you naysayers: http://ps3.ign.com/articles/116/1164641p1.html And there is no "THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH YOUR NETWORK" alert for any network as big as the PSN. SONY had to surf through tons and tons of information to find this out. So what are they doing wrong? Helping you and advising you what to do? The horror! Compensating you for the long wait? What a bunch of monsters!!

"...estimated return date for PSN services as May 3..."

Key word there.

And the people jeering at SONY for this(Xbots) should remember that XBL was down for two weeks in 2008.

The Xbox Live's outage in 2008 was due to an unexpectedly large amount of people on the servers, which is a tad bit different from having vital customer information being comprimised to hackers.

@Semblance What is vital? Your credit card number could be stolen anytime. The impotant thing is the three number security code. Name(first and last) could also be accessed easily with a google search or a facebook/twitter stalk. The same goes for the other information. Believe it or not, Sony has this under control. They are a lot smarter than some internet bloggers and posters(not reffering to this group)

Your unencrypted password isn't important? As with your name, phone number, and address? i don't know about you, but I like to keep that information private.
