I'm going to record a second Legendary guide for Halo Reach, and I'm going to make it as beginner friendly as possible. That means skipping as many battles and killing few enemies as possible, and using any crazy glitches or tricks that I can find to complete the game.
I'm going to do it slowly (as I work on building this site) and meticulously plan out every part of every level.
If anybody has any tips or tricks they want to point out to make this run easier let me know!
You can skip every enemy up to this section. Jorge and Carter will teleport past the enemies when you get to the truck.
It looks like there are 3 possible Evac Zones, and the third one you find is the one you defend. They all seem equally difficult to defend. Drive past the first 2 to defend the third.
Jorge and Carter will kill every enemy in this section, will some extreme patience. It is possible but will take a while on Legendary.
Also, up to this point, I've found no hidden power weapons. I didn't scour all the buildings that I drove past though.
As soon as you get out of the helicopter, run into the safe area by Kat and Jorge will kill everybody, again, with extreme patience.
After the dropship drops off more enemies, Carter and Emile will move out of the safe area and assist Jorge. More extreme patience, still no bullets fired.
After the checkpoint, drive the forklift for a few seconds and wait a few seconds for the jackals and grunts to get close. There are 3 red tanks on the right, shoot the top off of one and you can kill them all with 1 bullet. You can probably wait for Jorge to kill them all as well, but you get a very nice multikill by shooting the red tank.
The next narrow hall is packed with jackals and grunts. Jorge will kill them all, but you may need to run forward a bit to get him to move up.
Again, Jorge will kill all the grunts. After the grunts are dead, move forward a bit to trigger the elites. If you hide, the sword elite will go toe to toe with Jorge and lose.
Getting Jorge to kill the Elite Chieftan is harder though. Combo him to finish him off
I don't know if for my Beginners Guide I'll actually go out of my way so far to fire so few bullets because it takes so long for your teammates to finish off Elites.

I don't know if its an easier strategy or not but it works fine with me, saw a drop sheild with a shotgun. I take it both and once its that sword elite, i create a sheild and attract it, stay on one side of the sheild and once it comes in shotgun and whack or 2 shotgun shots, don't remember.
Just a general tip first. Any time you have a power weapon that only has one shot left, don't use the last shot unless that last shot will clear the rest of the area. Give it to a Marine if one is still alive. You can't swap weapons with a Spartan, but you can with a Marine. They will have unlimited shots with the weapon, and sometimes when they die and you pick it back up, it will have refilled with some ammo.
Also, whenever you have to ride in a warthog, be sure to give a marine a power weapon and make him ride shotgun while a Spartan is on the turret. This way you'll stand somewhat of a chance against Ghosts or anything else. I'd also suggest doing attack runs in a circle making your way into firing range and back out of the enemy's line of sight. Remember that they will see you and fire at you from much further away than your Marines will Fire from. Using this strategy on Legendary, I actually survived every area with a vehicle intact.
Also, I did a blog post about one section of Halo Reach on Legendary, where if you run to a certain point, an elite who is dual weilding plasma rifles will just disappear, and an easy way to kill the Hunters in that area. http://wikigameguides.com/Blogs/HannibalSkye/Halo_Reach_Tip_Oni_Sword_Base_Level. Feel free to use this if you want.
Lastly, I told you about this in an email, but there is a DMR ammo crate laying on it's back with weapons facing upwards on the Keyes Platform that you have to clear out at the end of the game. I made a really short video showing it on my Bungie site - http://www.bungie.net/Stats/Reach/FileDetails.aspx?fid=2490999&player=Hannibal%20Skye. Knowing that is there, I would get a power weapon in the hands of the marines as soon as you can, like the grenade launcher or the fuel rod cannon if you can (once you've killed that Brute), also if you use all but one of the Rocket Launcher ammo that you bring in with you and give it to a marine, things will go better. Other than that I would just stick to the building until the brutes rush in and try to overwhelm you, then just stick to the outskirts and fire from out of cover till you clear them all out.
Hope this helps.
I saw that DMR crate in the standoff in pillar of autumn after i killed all the brutes with shields and plasma launc and i was like FUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!
I know that trick you said and it worked with me in all games except this, i gave some marine a DMR and it only had one shot in it and i killed him straight away and the only thing I got was a body to teabag.
Cool glitch lol.
One thing you might do is make an intro video to Legendary, Something I always thought about doing, but never did.
Now we can use Firefight custom mode to make videos and show people how to take out specific enemies with specific settings. We can encourage ppl to make the firefight spawn Grunts to practice headshot precision with the DMR or pistol, spawn just the shileded jackals to work on the combo shooting the hand then head, and we can show ppl how to set up just Elites to work on the Combo, taking out Brutes, Hunters, etc.
Speaking of the 'Combo'. Halo players have been doing it for years, but it doesn't mean everyone knows what it means. I have a cousin who plays shooters (offline) all the time and had no idea how effective it was for taking out Elites. His jaw dropped when I showed him one of my videos using the technique. In short he said he never dreamed of trying to beat game on Legendary because he didn't think there were enough bullets to take out the Elites.
IN addition to showing the Combo I would also show what weapons work great for the combination; Pistol, DMR, Needler Rifle
As for Winter Contingency I think you've squeezed all the easy you can out of it. That's all the tricks and tips I've found as well.
There's a easy way to get to the truck in the beginning. Simply hug the right of the path and sprint over the cliff.
